How to Make you Phone's battery last longer

Many smart phone users complain of having poor battery and their phones stay switched off for long period of time when they can't find an ac outlet close by. The truth is, having a low battery to often puts user in a worried state of mind and some times could have serious consequences. 

These tips when used together will produce an outstanding result and you will never have to worry about having a low battery again.


1. Data


Always switch off your data (browsing) network when not using it


2. Sync

Turn off sync feature of your phone if you experience battery drain, this will restrict background applications from sending or receiving data without you consenting.


3. 3G

Its better to use 2G when you are not downloading or generally when data transfer speed is not so important e.g when chatting.


4. Airplane mode

Whenever you do not need to receive or make calls, receive or send text...or when the phone reception in the particular location you are is bad, switch your phone into airplane mode.


5. Background Apps

It is advisable to close apps properly immediately after use and constantly stop background processes.


6. Screen Brightness

Reduce the brightness of your screen to a level as low as your eyes can permit (if possible reduce it all the way down)


7. Screen Timeout 

Only allow your screen to stay on for a few seconds after inactivity in detected (usually 5 or 10 sec and not 1 min or more)


8. Live chat applications

Do not install too many social applications or live chatting applications on your phone, limit them to the best or your favorite (or you can constantly disable/freeze and enable/unfreeze them if you are too into social networking)


9. Sounds

Reduce the notification volumes, turn off any form of key-press sound and try to use earpiece when listening to music. Also do not install listening apps (they keep the phone mic on always) e.g some Phone finders.


10. Transition Animation

In critical cases, turning off windows transition animation is advised.


11. Other wireless connectivity

Do not leave your wireless and Bluetooth connectivity on, because they constantly initiate network scan which will in-turn drain your phone battery


12. Sensors

Turn off screen rotation and monitor applications that use any of the sensors on your phone (Do not allow any of the sensors to be kept on for long.)


13. AUTO

In EXTREME situations, disable anything that's labelled 'AUTO' (e.g AUTO-search for update) in your phone and learn to do things manually in order to save battery.


14. ROOT (not necessary but it works)

Root your phone and gain more control, uninstall apps called bloatware or at least control the way they run.


15. Update

Try as much as possible to keep you device firmware updated, you get more features,patches and fixes.
