Android for GSM use requires a little more effort, unlike the previous method
where PC was not used; this method requires use of PC and a few commands simple
to write (no special knowledge of CMD or ADB needed)
To start, you will need the following:
a)
a PC on windows, Mac or Linux (We are using
windows for this tutorial)
b)
a USB cable for your device and USB drivers
c)
ADB tool (Get Minimal ADB/Fastboot tool forWindows)
If you have the above items ready, go on to
1.
Insert GSM SIM of choice
2.
Enable Developer Mode by going to
Settings--About phone and tap “Build number” as many times as it will
take to get the message “You are now a Developer”.
3.
Go back to Setting--Developer Mode and
enable USB debugging
4.
Now go to
Settings--More--Cellular Networks then enable Airplane Mode from
the notification section
5.
Plug your device to the PC and wait till your
device drivers are installed and recognized by the PC
6.
Launch the Minimal ADB app after installation and TYPE THE FOLLOWING
·
adb shell
(Authorization request should
appear on your device, please allow)
·
pm clear com.android.providers.telephony
·
settings put global preferred_network_mode 9
·
settings put global preferred_network_mode1 9
·
settings put global preferred_network_mode2 9
7.
Disconnect your phone from PC and Turn off
Airplane mode
8.
Select 2G or 3G as your preferred network type,
9.
If network signal fails to come up, click “Network
operators” and select “Choose automatically”
10.
If GSM signal still doesn’t come up, hold down
the Power button until your device restarts.
STEP 10 DID IT FOR ME IN MY CASE
NOTE: You might have to repeat steps 4 to 10 if it doesn’t
work first try.
