How to stop “SIM not from Verizon“ notification on Verizon branded Phones (works for most other Branded Android Devices)
Verizon and most other big Network operators in the USA
provide Mid-range to High end smart devices for their customers at budget friendly
prices at the cost of it being locked to their network. Sometimes these devices
(if not on Contract) are not locked par say but have the ability to connect to
other network service bugged of sort. And when these devices are running on
stock ROM, some service/process keeps reminding you that the SIM in it is not
from the right network.
This notification can be annoying at time and can frustrate
user to find methods to remove or disable such notification. Going about
disabling these services/processes may not be straight forward but the below
steps should help
Using Moto E 2nd Gen as example
1.
Turn on the device with SIM from other network
operator
2.
As soon as you see notification, hold down on
the notification to reveal app details
3.
Take note of the service/process name (e.g
com.motorola.setup.phoneproviders)
4.
Now download Debloater by Gatesjunior on your PC
and install it
5.
Connect your device to PC with USB ADB enabled (
See How to setup ADB)
6.
Launch Debloater app and you should see your
device is connected
7.
At the top left corner, click “Read Device
packages” and wait for packages to load fully
8.
Now search for the nuisance process/service you
took note of its name (in our example; com.motorola.setup.phoneproviders),
check it and click “Apply”.
Please do not mess around blocking or unblocking what you
are not sure about with the app, you might end up with bootloop or a soft brick
Hope this works for you
