How to capture a screenshot of a blank notification area (Silly Android Tutorial for hTC devices)

With the Android kitkat update rolling out for more and more phones every week, if your device is being sidelined or has already been confirmed not getting an
update, don't worry too much because there are lots of custom ROM updates out there for you to chose from.

I recently updated a hTC Vivid 4g device to the Kitkat 4.4.2 (official update ended on ICS) and I was really impressed with the level of customization available on the ROM.

By the way, the ROM is based on an unofficial AOPK hTC Holiday kitkat version.

There were tons of tweaking and customization options on the Very stable and beautiful ROM, which includes one that this topic is based on.

Notification Area tweaks on the AOPK ROM

A special setting on the ROM allows using a swipe gesture to switch between the main notification area and the quick-settings toggle area.

If this setting is active, then a blank notification area can be seen when you swipe half-way through to the other area.

The following screenshots should provide better illustration of the tutorial.

To take a screenshot of a blank notification area of your own (hTC devices on Custom ROM), follow below steps...

1. Navigate to Settings>>ROM Control

2. On the drop-down menu available at the top-left corner of the screen, select 'Toggles'

3. Under the "configure" tab, check the "swipe to switch" option and exit 'settings'

4. Pull down the notification/status bar and swipe left or right to switch between the two notification pages.

5. If the swiping gesture successfully switches notification and toggle areas, then swipe and hold swiping half-way between the two pages (achieving a totally blank screen takes time and steady hands)

6. When ready, hold the POWER and the VOLUME DOWN buttons untill a screenshot is confirmed taken.

7. Visit picture Gallery to view the taken screenshot(s) and compare with the above screenshots picture...

8. Good Luck capturing a Perfectly blank Notification Area!

The above is more of having fun tweaking your Android than really making good use of your time on earth...have FUN!

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs. Apple iPhone 5s: Spec Showdown

In what appears to be an unending rivalry between two tech giants,  Samsung and Apple continue their smartphone arms race. The Korean giant's new Galaxy S5 smartphone is poised to take on Cupertino's current champ, the  iphone 5s , as each company tries to leapfrog over the other semiannually. The Galaxy S5 doesn't look too different from the S4, but it sports a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a significant bump up from the S4's 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600. The iPhone 5s's A7 processor is impressive, and we won't know whether the Galaxy S5 will beat it until we benchmark it. The iPhone 5s  generally
