For you guys out there using Galaxy S3 smartphone here's good news for you.
According to this report from Android geeks, your phone may just be getting an update of the -widely believed to be- most stable Android OS version.
We’ve previously reported that Samsung might have cancelled the android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy S3, but it seems like they’ve changed their mind now. This comes as great news for all Galaxy S3 users and we hope that Samsung is going to release the update soon, though no estimated date of arrival has been given,
unfortunately.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is just two years old and everyone is expect the Korean maker to update it to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, which has been released a long time ago and they should’ve had enough time to prepare the update.
Until now Samsung used to update smartphones for 18 months after the release and that means they should stop sending updates for the Galaxy S3 in March 2014, which is now at the end. But it seems like they are going to make an exception for the Galaxy S3, though it might be the last update for this smartphone, as they are focusing on newer models.
Newer flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 started to receive updates, but only from some specific carriers and it seems like it will take some time until all users will get them.
It’s a shame that Samsung ignores their customers, especially considering that the Galaxy S3 is one of their most sold smartphones, so there will be millions of upset customers if they don’t update it to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
We are hoping the update to start rolling out in April and we’ll let you know once it’s ready, because it will definitely take even more until carriers approve it and start sending it OTA to the devices. Once the company releases it, we’re going to get our hands on it and write a guide to help you manually update, so you don’t have to wait for your carrier to do it.
In the meantime we are monitoring updates for all smartphones closely and we will keep you informed.
