Tips on how to extend battery life span

Smart phone manufacturers are yet to invest enough in the technology that will significantly improve the performance of batteries that power their products. Many have argued and shared theirs opinions on various platforms concerning topics bordering on "power/battery technology". However, it has failed to assist many tech users (smartphone users especially) to keep their devices powered-on without always having their chargers close at hand.

If you are one of many having battery issues on your smart device, then the following tips should be useful to you!

Battery life Improvement  tips

1. Full cycle of charge and discharge:
You would usually get the instruction "charge battery full before first use" on newly purchased
devices' manuals. The truth is, you maintain good battery health when you give your device a full charge-discharge cycle at least once every 2 weeks.

2. Use original Charger only:
It is perhaps the most important tip to maintain a good battery life. Ensure you only charge your device with the original charger provided by manufacturer, and when charger replacement is required, be sure to purchase from a trusted retailer.

3. When Charging:
Try to avoid using the phone while it charges, it not only lets charging get completed easily and fast, it will prevent battery from heating up during charging. If you can not do without using your device while it charges, only use it lightly.

4. Heavy Usage:
As much as possible, avoid heavy device usage altogether. Your battery gets very hot to indicate heavy use, during this period the battery components gradually get less productive which in turn reduces overall battery performance and cuts life span short.

5. Screen Brightness and Timeout:
The screen is the hardware component that consumes your battery the most, so our aim here is to try to lower the amount of power it consumes. Because the screen is in full operation 100% of the time you use your device, reducing brightness means reducing the current/voltage that is used by the components in the screen. Reducing screen timeout means more standby time and less battery drain.

6. Calibration:
In the case that you have not been taking care of your battery by using the above tips and already experiencing some issues like, getting sudden "battery low" notification, or sharp battery drain... then you should consider calibrating you device's battery. This does not improve battery life or performance directly, it only helps the android system to get rid of wrong or inaccurate battery information.

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs. Apple iPhone 5s: Spec Showdown

In what appears to be an unending rivalry between two tech giants,  Samsung and Apple continue their smartphone arms race. The Korean giant's new Galaxy S5 smartphone is poised to take on Cupertino's current champ, the  iphone 5s , as each company tries to leapfrog over the other semiannually. The Galaxy S5 doesn't look too different from the S4, but it sports a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a significant bump up from the S4's 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600. The iPhone 5s's A7 processor is impressive, and we won't know whether the Galaxy S5 will beat it until we benchmark it. The iPhone 5s  generally
