How to enable USB ADB on any Android Device

Enabling ADB connection from device to PC is a very important thing if you wish to customize your Android device or if you wish to explore the relationship your PC can have with your Smartphone. Using ADB connection is not a new thing in the Android community, however, getting it started for first time use might be a little tricky for novices.

Here’s a quick list of things you will need in order to start up ADB between PC and Android device.

1.       A device that can use ADB

2.       Manufacturer supplied USB cable (any original USB cable should work)

3.       USB ADB driver on your PC

If the above checks out for you, do the following

1.       Navigate to Settings—About Phone, then, click ‘Build number’ approximately 10 times

2.       You should see a ‘You are now a Developer’ notification

3.       Go back to Settings and find ‘Developer options’ (was not there before step 1), and enable USB debugging

4.       Connect you phone to PC with over USB and wait for ADB drivers to be installed automatically

5.       See manual installation of ADB driver

Your device is now ready to listen to your PC through ADB shell
