Samsung Galaxy S5 Hands-On Review

Design – Plastic not so fantastic Samsung has come under great pressure to copy the metal body of the HTC One, but it has stuck to its guns with the plastic chassis of the Galaxy S5. It does feel different to the S4. The S5 has a more textured and dimpled finish which makes it easier to hold than both its predecessor and the slippery M8, though it lacks the grip of the rubber finish on the black edition of the LG Nexus 5 (the white edition is bizarrely slippery).

When it comes to the issue of privacy, most Smartphone users just wave it aside (claiming not to have anything to hide). The truth is: Most applications that run on your smartphone (especially Third-Party apps), request for and collect way too much information about you from your phone than they actually need. Why collect so much? I have on so many occasions asked myself what these apps need the collected info for…the obvious answers were. 1

Put Your Android Phone To The Test: How To Use Benchmark Apps On Our Android Phones

This is more of a geeky post but i think it is all important considering the amount we spent on our new device. Most friends ask me a lot of questions as regards which android phone is the best, i tell them that sometimes specs could be misleading and the best way to determine a powerful device is to test its performance.    Why guess at the performance of your device when you can run some tests and get detailed statistics? This is a test  of your device’s CPU, GPU, and other hardware components – in addition to your browser. Whether you’re curious about how your Android stacks up against the latest devices on the market, trying to determine the benefits of an overclock, or looking for the best browser, This test can help you. Benchmarking apps are useful for measuring the performance of your device and comparing the scores with similar devices. They test the performance of processors, graphics systems, Web browsing, and more. Here are five benchmarking apps for Android devices that y

Online Anonymity (Browsing As A Ghost): How to Browse Without Detection

How best to stay Anonymous and keep from prying eyes Being anonymous when visiting website addresses is an interesting thing. It is part of the various security steps available to keep hackers and information phishers from noticing your presence online and also make it somewhat difficult to trace you. I personally use anonymous surfing for very confidential reasons (like registering accounts with fake identities…LOL not true). Surfing anonymously is relatively easy and cheap…it comes in varying degrees. For example: Using the Incognito option on Chrome browser gives you a limited level of anonymity (try it by visiting www.whoer.net in the incognito mode). There are other steps that can be taken to be as anonymous as possible, depending on

Why You Should Root Your Android Phone

Rooting your new android device: Advantages and Disadvantages I personally consider this topic a “ stale ” topic judging by the fact that the word ’rooting’ has been in use in the android community for years (maybe 5 years). I have decided to post this topic because of the –over 4 million new smartphone users that have not been privileged to know the reasons to have ‘root’, or do not even know what ‘rooting’ means or does. “ROOT”, what does this mean? The term root comes from the hierarchical nature of the file system and permissions in UNIX and Linux operating systems (From which Android was obtained). This implies

Android Tablet Sales Overtake Apple's iPad in 2013

Apple's multi-year reign at the top of the consumer tablet heap ended in 2013 as slates running Google's Android operating system outsold iOS-based iPads for the year, according to Gartner. Sales of Android tablets accounted for 61.9 percent of the global market last year, or nearly 121 million units sold in 2013, Gartner said Monday. Overall, tablet vendors sold just over 195.4 million tablets with various operating systems for the year, up 68 percent from 116.3 million units sold to end users in 2012. Apple effectively created the market for consumer tablets in April 2010 with the release of the first-generation iPad. Cupertino remained the market leader for three years, but tablets

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs. Apple iPhone 5s: Spec Showdown

In what appears to be an unending rivalry between two tech giants,  Samsung and Apple continue their smartphone arms race. The Korean giant's new Galaxy S5 smartphone is poised to take on Cupertino's current champ, the  iphone 5s , as each company tries to leapfrog over the other semiannually. The Galaxy S5 doesn't look too different from the S4, but it sports a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a significant bump up from the S4's 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600. The iPhone 5s's A7 processor is impressive, and we won't know whether the Galaxy S5 will beat it until we benchmark it. The iPhone 5s  generally

How To Boost Your Android Device's Speed

Making your phone run faster, no app required, no root access needed...works perfectly. This tutorial is aimed at helping not-so-lucky users of low end devices that are experiencing lag in phone performance, to get some extra speed from their phones. I should start by saying:  o    This method works fine on my current phone (gionee cntrl V1) with 512mb RAM, and a meager 1 GHz single-core processor. I run a lot of heavy applications on it conveniently. So this should work for you  o    Like I've mentioned early, no root access is required which means you wouldn’t have to bother to root your device if you dint have root access before now.  o    This option has been provided by Android system and is a trusted method that won’t leave you regretting and it is completely automated (doesn't require monitoring or re-executing) What you need
